Art and Experience: Asghar Farhadi’s acclaimed movie “The Salesman”, which is on the shortlist of nine contenders for best foreign-language film at the Academy Awards, has been pirated in Iran.

A low quality copy of the movie is available for download on some Persian websites, the Persian service of ILNA reported on Friday.

The version bears a watermark reading “For the review of the Guidance Ministry”.

Producers must send a copy of their films to apply for the ministry’s authorization for the premiere of their productions in Iran.

Grossing over 150 billion rials (about $3.8 million), “The Salesman” became Iran’s most successful film over the past year.
