Art and Experience: A man has been arrested for his involvement in pirating Asghar Farhadi’s acclaimed movie “The Salesman”, the Cinema Organization of Iran announced on Saturday.

He has made copies of the movie as well as Saeid Rustai’s award-winning drama “Life+1 Day” to distribute at stores in the central Iranian city of Isfahan.

The Persian service of ILNA reported news of the piracy on Friday, announcing that a low quality copy of the movie is available for download on some Persian websites.

The version bears a watermark reading “For the review of the Guidance Ministry”.

Producers must send a copy of their films bearing the watermark to apply for the ministry’s authorization for the premiere of their productions in Iran.

“The Salesman” is on the shortlist of nine contenders for the Oscar for best foreign-language film at the Academy Awards.

Grossing over 150 billion rials (about $3.8 million), “The Salesman” became Iran’s box office hit of the year.
