Art and Experience: Iranian flick ‘The Salesman’, by Asghar Farhadi, and ‘500 Shekels of Gold’ by Shahrzad Dadgar won awards at the 5th Persian International Film Festival (PIFF) in Australia which wrapped up on October 3rd.
The former won the Best Feature Film Award while the latter grabbed the Best Short Film Award in the event, IRNA reported. The festival’s secretary Amin Palangi described the 5th edition was the most important. He added that a special ceremony to commemorate the prominent Iranian director Abbas Kiarostami was warmly welcomed by the audience. He added that films by Majid Barzegar including ‘A Very Ordinary Citizen’ and ‘Parviz’ also were reviewed in the festival. The 5th edition of the festival toured Melbourne, Adelaide and Canberra from September 22 to October 3 before ending at the Palace Cinemas in Sydney.
