Cinema halls across the country have been shut down from today until the end of the week to prevent the spread of the Corona virus.

Gholamreza Faraji, a spokesman for the Guild of theaters, confirmed to Saba by the Cinema halls across the country will stay closed by the end of this week.

“Following the announcement by the Ministry of Culture and Islamic Guidance of a one-week shutdown of artistic and cinematic activities, the Guild Council also decided to shut down cinema halls across the country by the end of this week at today’s February 23rd meeting,” he added.

A spokesperson for the show council said the decision was based on strict health recommendations and the need to safeguard the health of the people in the country, stressing that “cinema activity will continue next week after coordination with the competent authorities, which will be announced later.”

In response to what is the fate of the films that were screened during that time, as well as the issue of Nowruz’s screening? He explained: “The fate of the films that have been screened and these issues have been shut down is being investigated by the Guild Council and we must consider certain conditions for them.”

A spokesperson for the Guild of Theater concludes: “Planning for the screening of Nowruz and the selection of films is also underway, given the recent circumstances, decisions and results will be announced.”
