Tentative list for Iran’s Oscars representative released
Art and Experience: Iran’s Oscars Representative Board, a body of directors and producers to decide upon Iran’s Oscars representing movie, have prepared a tentative list of the movies for further examination.
The Board as it is called, will closely cooperate in deciding the final nominee for 89th Oscars 2017 with Iran’s House of Cinema and Farabi Cinema Foundation, and Ministry of Culture’s Cinema Organization. The Board consists of famous names as Pouran Derakhshandeh (director), Mohammad Bozorgnia (director), Mohammad Heidari (FIFF secretary), Saeid Aghighi (screenwriter and film critic), Amir Hossein Alamolhoda (Art and Experience Cinema Policy Board member), Shahram Mokri (director), Touraj Mansouri (director of photography), Akbar Nabavi (producer and film critic) and Amir Esfandiari (Farabi Foundation International Relations deputy).
Movies should be produced outside the US and in languages other than English; should be premiered within the fiscal year beginning October 1 and ending in September 30, 2016 at least for a week at least in a single cinema; they should be eligible for public screening and should not be screened in the US publically.
Amir Esfandiari who acts as spokesperson of the Board told reporters on Wednesday that the Board had examined 82 movies according to guidelines of cultural and professional contribution and other factors; “the Board had hailed the diversity and the quality of the majority of films; however, it came with only 8 most representing movies among which an ultimate Oscars representative will be chosen,” he told reporters.
‘Eternity and A Day,’ (Mohsen Roustaei), ‘Here comes Dragon,’ (Mani Haghighi), ‘Standing in the Dust,’ (Mohammad Hossein Mahdavian), ‘Wednesday, Ordibehesht 19 (May 9),’ (Vahid Jalilvand), ‘Daughter,’ (Seyed Reza Karimi), ‘The Salesman,’ (Asghar Farhadi), ‘Lantouri,’ (Reza Dormishian), and ‘Nahid,’ (Aida Panahandeh) are the tentative list of the Board.
