Sam Raimi in talks to direct remake of Jacques Audiard’s A Prophet
Art and Experience: Sam Raimi, the Spider-Man director is taking on an update of the acclaimed French thriller and is in early talks to direct the remake of Jacques Audiard’s Oscar-nominated “A Prophet” movie. There is also a bit of silver lining to cling to as Dennis Lehane (“The Drop,” “The Wire,” “Mystic River”) is penning screenplay, and he seems to be the right voice to bring Audiard’s story to an American audience without losing any of the impact.
The original film was directed by Jacques Audiard and told the tale of a man, played by Tahar Rahim, who becomes an integral part of a crime syndicate after being sent to prison. It was nominated for best foreign language film at the Oscars.
Raimi had “Oz The Great And Wonderful” on screen in 2013.
