Art and Experience: Room won big at the Canadian Screen Awards – winning nine gongs at the film event.

The movie, which was a co-production between the Irish and Canadian film boards, also picked up the award for Best Motion Picture, Best Director for Lenny Abrahamson and Best Adapted Screenplay for Emma Donoghue.

Taking place in Toronto on Sunday night, the Oscar nominated flick also saw it’s stars win at the film gala.

Academy Award winner Brie Larson won Best Actress for her portrayal of Ma, while her on-screen mother Joan Allen took home the award for Best Supporting Actress.

The film’s young star Jacob Tremblay, who played Jack, was recognised with the award for Best Actor.

Room also took home technical awards for art direction, make-up and editing.
