“Retouch” crowned best short at Iran Cinema Celebration
Art and Experience: Iranian director Kaveh Mazaheri’s “Retouch” has won the award for best short film at the 18th Iran Cinema Celebration.
The winners in the short film section of the celebration were announced on Tuesday during a ceremony at Tehran’s Eyvan-e Shams Hall.
Produced by the Iranian Young Cinema Society, “Retouch” is about a young woman whose husband is trapped under a halter during a workout, but she declines to save him and, consequently, he dies.
The award for best director went to Farnush Samadi and Ali Asgari for “Silence”. Masud Hatami also received the award for best director in the experimental short section for “Surviving”.
The award for best screenwriter was presented to Arman Khansarian for “Teal”.
Omid Adibparvar won the best editor award for “Diehard”. The award for best sound engineer went to Morteza Mohammadi and Salman Abuzar for their colleaboration in “Three Years, Three Months and Two Days”.
Hamed Hosseini received the award for best cinematographer for “Whales”.
The Iranian House of Cinema organizes the Celebration annually to commemorate Iran’s National Day of Cinema, which falls on September 11 this year.
Winners in the categories of short films, animations and documentaries are announced annually before the National Day of Cinema.
The celebration reaches its climax with the announcement of winners in the feature-length films section on that day.
