Netflix Is Making 4 More Adam Sandler Movies
Art and Experience: Netflix has long insisted that Adam Sandler is very good business for them, and it’s clear it’s just not PR spin.
The streaming service has announced that they’ve inked Adam Sandler for four more movies, on top of their initial four-picture deal: yep, the math is simple, there will be eight Netflix movies starring Adam Sandler. Indeed, the critics may furrow their brows, but “The Ridiculous 6” and “The Do-Over” are the biggest Netflix feature releases ever (according to them, anyway) and while this is the part where cinephiles whine, complain, and snark… who cares?
There’s all kinds of stuff on Netflix to watch, and you can go the rest of your life without watching a new Adam Sandler movie if that’s what you choose to do. And frankly, if this deal lets the actor make more movies like Noah Baumbach‘s “The Meyerowitz Stories,” that’s great. So hey, Netflix and Sandler have a good thing going, and those movies will never, ever take up thousands of multiplex screens. In fact, maybe Netflix is doing the entire world a huge favor.
Sandler’s next Netflix joint, “Sandy Wexler,” arrives on April 14th. [THR]
