Art & Experience: Fatemeh Motamed-Arya is nominated for the Best Performance(female) award at the 9th Asia Pacific Screen Awards ceremony for her role in Iranian director Morteza Farshbaf’s acclaimed drama “Avalanche”.

َAmong the nominations of Asia Pacific awards “ The Assassin ” by Hou Hsiao-Hsien from Taiwan was nominated for three categories, best feature award, best director award and best cinematography award. This movie won best director award at Cannes Film Festival this year. “Alive” from South Korea, “Cemetery of Splendor” from Thailand “End of Winter” from South Korea and “Journey to the Shore” from Japan are the other nominees for best feature award.

The movie “ Mustang ” (Savage horse) which will be the only France cinema entry in Oscar, is nominated for best first feature film as an Turkish production. Fatemeh Motamed-Arya is also Iran’s only entry in Asia Pacific Screen Awards ceremony for playing in “Avalanche” and she is competing with four others from Japan, South Korea, the Philippines and Russia for the Best Performance (female) award.

Celebrated Iranian actress Negra Javaherian is among members of the jury. The 9th Asia Pacific Screen Awards ceremony will be held at the Brisbane City Hall in Brisbane, Australia on November 26.
