Art and Experience: Two Iranian short films ‘Birthday Night’ and ‘Retouch’ will compete at the 16th international Miami short film festival.
Directed by Omid Shams, ‘Birthday Night’ will for the first time participate at an international filmfest.
Part of the movie’s synopsis reads, ‘Ahmad and Ali are friends and job partners. They face a dramatic situation on their birthday night.’
‘Retouch’, directed by Kaveh Mazaheri has already won the Crystal Simorgh for Best Short Film at the 35th Fajr Film Festival as well as the best short title from Iran Cinema Celebration.
Produced by the Iranian Young Cinema Society, “Retouch” is about a young woman whose husband dies before her eyes and she just observes the tragic scene.
The Miami short film festival is dedicated to promoting the short film genre, showcasing films from 1-30 minutes long. The festival is international in scope, bringing exposure to the world’s best independent up-and-coming filmmakers.
