Art and Experience-Ahmad Talebinezhad: There are many films and programs, which were made for Ashoura which most of them, were just some chimerical reports. However, among these rites and customs related to Karbala, situation of Taziyeh is different as the most public art in Iran. This is the point that many foreigners were aware of it and researchers like Chekovsky reminded it to us. He, in New York University worked on this type of dramatic art for many years. After him, some others like Peter Brook, the great English director worked on other aspects of Taziyeh and recognized its artistic-cultural dimensions of it. Taziyeh narrates the historical event which has happened 1400 years ago in different types. In “Asar-e Albaghiyeh” book written by Abu Reyhan Biruni has come: “on 10th of Moharram named Ashoura, Hossein-ebn-e Ali has been martyred. Hossein and his family was killed in their blood in depth of thirst and then after, the tents were fired and their bodies were under the hoofs of horses. In the history, nobody has seen this kind of cruelty.” While it is interpreted from this short text, Karbala has a great capacity to be a drama because of its tragic motif and structure. There are many films from famous Taziyehs in archives which have the main play inside but Nasser Taghvayi in “Last Rehearse” portrays different process of preparing a great Taziyeh named Hor-ebn-e Riahi who repented at the last moments and joined Imam Hosseun (A.S). Taghvayi tried to familiarize his audience with different process of this performance from A to Z. In fact, he has used the structure of Taziyeh as a pattern in the editing of his film. We know that Taziyeh has three shapes which are event, pre-event, and corner. Event is back to the main parts of Taziyeh which is about the martyrdom of Imam Hossein (A.S) and Karbala event. Pre-event is back to Taziyeh which are about side events of Karbala and they are not independent and the third category which is corners are about those comic things and they are performed in different months except than Moharram and Safar. In this full-length documentary that Taghvayi directed it in 2004 after UNESCO ordered him to make to be registered in spiritual heritage of the world, he uses the same structure as Taziyeh has. He starts with pre-event and then goes with main event.
