Art and Experience: Saeid Rustai’s “Life+1 Day” won the best film award at the 22nd Geneva International Film Festival Tous Ecrans, which was held in the Swiss city from November 4 to 12.

The movie is about a young girl, Somayeh, in a poor family who is contemplating whether she should leave her family to marry a rich Afghan or to stay with them and continue her attempts to mend her broken family. Her older brother, who is a recovering addict, urges her to leave, while her younger brother, who is still a user, asks her to stay and not to give up on her family.

“Park” by Sofia Exarchou, a Greek-Polish joint production, and “Alipato – the Very Brief Life of an Ember” by Khavn De La Cruz from the Philippines received special mention in this section.
