Kiarostami’s Commemoration Ceremony at 3 Global Events
Art and Experience: Since the beginning of this solar year, 3 international film festivals are being held having the commemoration of Abbas Kiarostami as their main theme.
According to ISNA, the 22nd Vilnius International Film Festival, taking place on March 23 to April 6 in Lithuania, celebrates his memories with screening Seyfollah Samadian’s “76 Minutes and 15 Seconds with Abbas Kiarostami” and Kiarostami’s “Take Me Home”, “Certified Copy”, “Through the Olive Trees”, “The Wind Will Carry Us”, “Ten” and “Taste of Cherry”.
The 31st Fribourg International Film Festival takes place in Switzerland from March 31 to April 8. Among the screening titles, we can see Seyfollah Samadian’s “76 Minutes and 15 Seconds with Abbas Kiarostami” and Abbas Kiarostami’s “Take Me Home” which will be screened in the Kiarostami Commemoration section. The festival’s program also includes “Based on Photo” by Elika Mehranpour, “A Dragon Arrives” by Mani Haghighi, “Petites Histoires de Fantomes” which is a collection of 6 animations made by 6 directors from 6 different countries, one of whom is Nazanin Sobhan Sarbandi, and “Under the Shadow” by Babak Anvari.
Katayoun Shahabi as a Juror in Istanbul
The 36th Istanbul Film Festival takes place on April 5-15 in Turkey, and Katayoun Shahabi is one of the jury members.
In the Kiarostami commemoration section, Seyfollah Samadian’s “76 Minutes and 15 Seconds with Abbas Kiarostami” and Kiarostami’s “Take Me Home” is to be screened. Also, in other sections, “Inversion” by Behnam Behzadi, “Parting” by Navid Mahmoudi and “The Apple” by Samira Makhmalbaf will be presented to the audience.
