Iranian films honored at Indian festival
Art and Experience: Two Iranian films won the main awards at the 2nd edition of the LIFFT India Filmotsav-World Cine Fest in the Indian city of Lonavala on December 10.
“Ako” by Nabi Gholizadeh was picked as best feature film, while “Breathing” by Farshid Ayubinejad received the best short film award.
“Ako” tells the story of a teenage porter in Tehran’s bazaar, who has a secret and tries to keep it.
“Breathing” is about a number of workers at a stone quarry who have to hide from an insurance company investigator.
Eight more Iranian films including Abbas Rafei’s acclaimed movie “Oblivion Season” were also screened at the festival.
“No Exit” by Azadeh Masihpur, “Gloomy Green” by Foruzan Jalili, “Balance” by Barzin Rostami and “Blindness” by Navid Nikkhah-Azad were among the films.
“You Do Not Perceive” by Payam Qorbani, “A Gift for a Gloomy Day” by Behzad Khodaveisi and “Are You Volleyball?” by Mohammad Bakhshi also went on screen.
