Iranian director to stage “Stools” in Italy
Art and Experience: Jafar Mahyari, the artistic director of the Zendegi Theater Company in Iran, is scheduled to stage “Stools” at Camere d’aria, a multipurpose space for art and culture in the Italian city of Bologna.
An Italian actress will accompany Mahyari in three performances arranged for October 9, 10 and 11, Mahyari told the Persian service of Honaronline on Saturday.
“The play centers on an Iranian man and an Italian woman each one standing on a stool. They accidentally meet each other and gradually get to know one another better, become interested in one another and begin to feel closer. However, they dare not step down since they are both afraid of falling off their stools. But a simple incident changes the process,” he explained.
He said that the play actually narrates the current situation of the contemporary man who is bound to restrictions and is unable to move forward and remove the obstacles.
Mahyari said that the play, which is the new production of Camere d’aria, will exclusively be staged in Italy. However, he added that he would like to stage it in Iran as well.
