Iran film ‘The Skier’ to hit domestic cinemas in December
Art and Experience: The Iranian feature film ‘The Skier’ has been set to hit Iranian cinema screens in December.
Directed by Fereydoun Najafi, the flick will go on screen at the Iranian domestic cinema theaters from Wednesday December 5, 2018.
‘The Skier’ is about a boy from Iran’s Kouhrang County who faces problems on his way to take a little ibex to a tribal ritual in a snowy remote region in Chaharmahal and Bakhtiari Province.
This road movie is an ethno-fictional film that colorfully documents vanishing tribal traditions, painting a portrait of the ethnic community of the Bakhtiari people of southwest Iran.
The positive and determined central character is an example of an empowered young child.
So far, ‘The Skier’ has participated in different international film festivals including the 11th Asia Pacific Film Festival in Astralia, 38th Cambridge Film Festival in Britain, 15the Dublin Int’l Film Festival in Ireland, 21st Olympia International Film Festival in Greece, and 18th Beirut International Film Festival in Lebanon.
The movie has also grabbed the Golden Butterfly for best director from the 30th edition of the International Film Festival for Children and Youth (IFFCY) in the Iranian city of Isfahan.
