“Hot Summer” leads nominations at Fajr festival
Art and Experience: “The Hot Summer”, Ebrahim Irajzad’s debut film on domestic issues, received thirteen nominations in various categories, including best film and best director, at the 35th Fajr Film Festival, the organizers announced on Tuesday.
Starring Parinaz Izadyar and Saber Abar, the film is about Nasrin whose domestic life is not happy. She knows that she cannot get custody of her daughter in case of divorce. So she covertly takes her to live in an unknown location somewhere in Tehran. However, her husband finds them.
Payam Karami, the writer of the screenplay for the film, also received a nomination for his collaboration in the film. He is competing with Saeid Rustai, the writer of “Blockage” directed by Mohsen Qarai.
Other nominees in the categories of best film and best director are Vahid Jalilvand’s “Without Date, Without Signature”, which received eleven nominations, and Mohamad-Hossein Mahdavian’s “The Midday Event” that received nine nominations.
Puran Derakhshande’s “Under the Smoky Roof” and Alireza Davudnajad’s “Ferrari” are the other nominees for the best film award and best director award.
Rambod Javan was nominated in the best director category for his latest movie “Negar”.
Nominees for best actor award are Ali Mosaffa for his role in “The Hot Summer”, Amir Aqai for “Without Date, Without Signature”, Mohsen Tanabandeh for “Ferrari”, Mehrdad Sediqian for “The Midday Event” and Hamid Farrokhnejad for “The Good, the Bad and the Frivolous”.
Actress Izadyar was nominated for her role in “The Hot Summer”. She is competing with Merila Zarei in “Under the Smoky Roof”, Leila Hatami in “Rag-e Khab”, Ghazal Shakeri in “Sara and Aida”, Sara Bahrami in “Italy Italy” and Hedyeh Tehrani in “Esrafil”.
The winners will be announced during the closing ceremony, which will be held at Tehran’s Milad Tower on February 9.
