Art and Experience: Asghar Farhadi’s latest drama film, The Salesman, which won two awards at the Cannes Film Festival in 2016, has been announced among the 5 hopeful for the Academy Award for the best foreign language film in 2017.
Iranian renowned director, to many critics auteur, and his latest drama feature, The Salesman, jointly produced by Iran and France, have hit the news outlets again as they have been nominated for the Best foreign language film in competition with Toni Erdmann, a German-Austrian comedy-drama, Land of Mine, a 2015 Danish-German historical drama, A Man Called Ove, a Swedish comedy-drama, and Tanna, an Australian true story.
Acclaimed Iranian director Asghar Farhadi, who won the Academy Award for the best foreign language film in 2012 with his family drama, A Separation, has directed, written and produced The Salesman.
The Salesman won the Best Actor award, for star Shahab Hosseini, and the Best Screenplay award at the Cannes Film Festival in 2016. It also garnered the Satellite Award for Best Foreign Language Film given by the International Press Academy.
