Art and Experience: The originally Lebanese film producer, Micheline Azoury, is the Head of International Sales at the Italian-based company, Mondo TV, which is one of the major production and distribution animation companies in Europe. Mondo TV produces and distributes cartoon series and feature films, on its own or in co-production with leading international networks. Azoury had an interview with the public relations office of the 34th Fajr International Film Festival (FIFF).
How many times have you been to the FIFF so far?
This is the first time I’m attending Fajr Festival. I would like to thank all the organizers for inventing us to this festival. I’m very delighted and honored to be here to meet with a lot of other producers and catch up with local productions from animation companies.
What made you accept our invitation? Had you heard anything about Fajr Festival before?
To be honest, for the last five years, they’ve been inviting us, but it always happened to be at the wrong time. We always had some other festivals to attend in February, but this edition of the festival is being held in April and that’s a good time for us. There were no other festivals to participate in and that’s why I decided to be available for the market.
How much do you know about Iranian Cinema?
I’ve studied Communication Studies at university, so I know Iranian Cinema produces high quality films. You have good actors and definitely good directors, too.
Have you seen any films?
I haven’t seen any films since I’m mainly attending the market in order to sell my products. Our major client here is the IRIB, which we supply with a lot of our children programs. I thank the IRIB for their trust and the opportunity they always offer us.
How do you like the venue of the festival?
For me, the location is fantastic. The hotel is also located near the market. I thank you very much again for your hospitality and I hope we can come back every year.
