Art and Experience: The Fajr International Film Festival has been facing a remarkable increase in the number of submissions after registering on FilmFreeway and Festhome, two major international websites that provide facilities for cineastes to present their productions at events worldwide, festival spokesman Alireza Shojanuri said on Wednesday.

“So far, applications have been filled out for over 5,000 feature and short films from across the world,” he said in a press release.

He added that hundreds of applicants have also registered directly on the website of the festival, which will be held in Tehran from April 21 to 28.

The festival organizers along with a team of advisors are also monitoring film events worldwide to reach the festival by inviting acclaimed productions.

“The large number of applicants makes it easy for us to select a rich lineup of films,” Shojanuri said.

He also said that the organizers would do their best to cover all parts of the world cinema by their choice of films and expressed his hope that this year’s festival would satisfy critics and filmgoers.
