The first edition of Banoo Theater Festival has announced jury grid.

Bahram Ebrahimi-Yazdi, Leili Rashidi, Abtin Golkar, Azadeh Ganjeh and Esmaeel Najjar have been named as the five jury members to judge at the first run of the event.

Bahram Ebrahimi-Yazdi is known to ifilm viewers from ‘The Seventh Angle’, ‘The First Night of Peace’, ‘The Innocent Ones’, ‘The 30th Day’, ‘Remembrance’ and ‘It’s All There’.

The television, film and radio actor has also worked as an assistant director and played roles in various plays.

Leili Rashidi is also to serve as the jury of the event. She is the daughter of late veteran Iranian actor and director Davoud Rashidi. She was one of the main actors in the popular Iranian television series, ‘Ta be Ta stories’, in the 1990s.

Abtin Golkar is another juror of the event. He is an Iranian translator, a researcher in Russian Language and literature, and assistant professor at Tarbiat Modares University.

Azadeh Ganjeh and Esmaeel Najjar are both familiar names to Iran cinema professionals as they have had hands in many cinematic productions to date.

Banoo Theater Festival is to be held under the patronage of Ordibehesht Performing and Cinematic Arts Company which is the first private Iranian institution active in the field of performing arts, drama and cinema.

Ordibehesht Art Company has planned to hold the first edition of the festival on the occasion of International Women’s Day with a focus on women and their social roles.

To this end, the company has recently called for entries to organize the event in two sections of playwriting (compilation and translation) and performance (performing scenes and theater).

Screenwriter, producer and director Ali Roueentan will serve as the event’s secretary.

The festival is slated to take place on March 9-11, 2019 in Mowlavi Hall in Tehran.
