“Atlan” to try its luck at U.S. festival
Art and Experience: Iranian filmmaker Moin Karimeddini’s acclaimed documentary “Atlan” will go on screen at the 12th Rural Route Film Festival, which will be held at the Museum of the Moving Image in New York from July 29 to 31.
Produced by the Documentary and Experimental Film Center (DEFC), “Atlan” focuses on the life story of Ali, an Iranian Turkmen horse-riding instructor, and his horse Ilhad.
Earlier in 2014, the film won the award for best film at Cinéma Vérité, the Iranian international festival for documentaries. In the Turkmen language, the word Atlan means “get on your horse and get going.”
The Rural Route Film Festival centers on stories of brave youth and their animal friends. A mix of new movies and all-time classics, plus top notch shorts from around the globe will be screened at the event, the organizers announced.
