Art and Experience: Concrete details have finally emerged regarding Woody Allen’s upcomingAmazon series. As revealed Sunday at Amazon’s day at the Television Critics Association press tour, the six-episode series will be titled “Crisis in Six Scenes,” and premiere Sep. 30 on Amazon Prime.

The show wasn’t actually presented as a panel at TCA, but a fact sheet was passed around to those in attendance.

Here’s the official synopsis for more context: “‘Crisis in Six Scenes’ is a comedy that takes place in the 1960s during turbulent times in the United States when a middle class suburban family is visited by a guest who turns their household completely upside down.” Allen himself will star alongside Miley Cyrus and Elaine May; Rachel Brosnahan and John Magaro will both be recurring guests.

As previously revealed, Michael Rapaport, Margaret Ladd, David Harbour, Joy Behar, Christine Ebersole, Becky Ann Baker, Lewis Black and Rebecca Schull will also appear.

In the first clip shown to the TCA, Allen’s character Sidney Munsinger is demanding that his barber give him a haircut to look like James Dean. Bantering ensues. In the second clip, Sidney and Miley Cyrus’ character are arguing about his fancy kitchen appliances in the face of people starving all over the world. She calls him a “mindless, cowardly follower.”

The show will be quite short, consisting of just six half-hour episodes written and directed by Allen; there will be no second season. “Crisis in Six Scenes” is set to premiere exclusively on Amazon on Sept. 30.

“Crisis” is part of Amazon’s aggressive plan to premiere a bevy of new and returning comedies this fall, including the new Tig Notaro series “One Mississippi” (Sept. 9), new comedy “Fleabag” (Sept. 16), season 3 of “Transparent” (Sept. 23), season 2 of “Red Oaks” (Nov. 11) and season 3 of “Mozart in the Jungle” (Dec. 9).
