Art and Experience: Fatemeh Motamed-Arya, the star of acclaimed drama “The Blue-Veiled”, was honored for her lifetime achievements during the opening ceremony of the 6th International Urban Film Festival at Tehran’s Garden Art Museum on Sunday.

“I am happy to be honored in this festival as an individual who is doing cultural activities, everybody would have been this much happy if she was me,” Motamed-Arya said after accepting her award from director Puran Derakhshandeh.

Motamed-Arya expressed her hope that she along with her colleagues can help resolve difficulties in Tehran and have a share in reaching peace in the city.

The ceremony was followed by the unveiling of a portrait of Motamed-Arya.

A tribute was also paid to the late film producer Habibollah Kasesaz, who died of cancer on July 19 at the age of 55.

Winners of several side sections of the festival were also honored at the opening ceremony.

The festival will be screening films in two national and international categories at Tehran’s Mellat Cinema Complex until August 5.
