Art and Experience: The Oscar-winning ‘The Social Network’ and ‘A Few Good Men’ screenwriter is hosting a masterclass for the ages.

As Aaron Sorkin once said: “Good writers borrow from other writers. Great writers steal from them outright.”

Get ready to steal from Sorkin himself. The Oscar-winning writer, who wrote his first screenplay, A Few Good Men, on cocktail napkins, is giving back with a 5-hour online masterclass open to the public. Under Sorkin’s tutelage, you can expect to emerge a veritable master of quips, tête-à-têtes, lightning-speed pacing and what Sorkin himself describes as “punch-you-in-the-face” dialogue.

“The worst crime you can commit is telling the audience what they already know.”

The class, which costs $90 to enroll, will feature 25 video lessons and interactive assignments on topics including dialogue, character development, story pacing, and plot. Students will upload videos to get feedback from the class, and Sorkin himself will critique select screenplays.

The cherry on top of the cake? Professor Sorkin will demonstrate his process by leading a writer’s room to work on a new episode of The West Wing.
