36th FIFF picks veteran filmmaker as new secretary
Art and Experience: 36th Fajr International Film Festival (FIFF) in Iran announces celebrated Iranian filmmaker Reza Mirkarimi as secretary of upcoming event.
Organizers of the 36th FIFF picked Iranian filmmaker Mirkarimi as the new secretary of the event to take place in the Iranian capital city of Tehran in April.
The Iranian director has participated at numerous international film festivals, including serving on the jury of the 30th Tokyo International Film Festival (TIFF) in Japan last year.
Born in 1966, Mirkarimi graduated in Graphic Arts from Tehran University’s Faculty of Fine Arts.
He began his career in 1987 with a 16mm short film named ‘For Him’ followed by another 16mm production ‘A Rainy Day’ and a 35mm ‘A Rooster’.
Mirkarimi’s most notable films include ‘Under the Moonlight’ (2000) and ‘Here a Shining Light’ (2002), ‘So Close, So Far’ (2004), ‘As Simple as That’ (2007) all of which have won Crystal Symorghs in various categories.
The 36th edition of the Fajr International Film Festival is slated for April 19-27, 2018, in Tehran.
